THRACE, Philippopolis. Marcus Aurelius. AD 161-180. Æ (31mm, 19.76 g, 7h). Quintus Tullius Maximus, legatus Augusti pro praetore Thraciae. Struck AD 163-4. Bareheaded bust right, drapery on shoulders / River-god Hebrus reclining left, holding grain ears, resting on urn from which water flows. Varbanov, Philippopolis VII.1.1 (O1/R1) corr. (rev. legend – this coin); Mouchmov, Philippopolis –; RPC IV.1 Online –; Varbanov 799. Red-brown patina. Good VF. Very rare.
